New Year, New You?

So did you resolve to be a better you in 2013 like most of the rest of the US population? Whatever your goals, whether fitness regime, nutrition program, healthy lifestyle, drinking more water, getting rid of some, alcohol, cigarettes… I encourage you to resolve with specificity! What’s that mean you ask?

#1 specific and measurable goals! If weight loss, track pounds, inches, and clothing size. If health, track weight, cholesterol, and blood pressure.

#2 celebrate your successes by setting benchmarks with rewards. For example, after you lose your first 10 pounds, treat yourself to a ice cream cone!

#3 listen to your body. Maybe your initial goal was to lose 50 pounds… And let’s say you lose 40 this year. Congratulate yourself on a job well done, and ask yourself, “how do I feel?” If the answer is good, healthy, confident… Then maybe 40 was the right number! The point is to pay attention to how you feel throughout the process!

I would love to hear about your goals, and follow up with you on progress… So tell me about it in the comments!

What a great way to motivate your readers to reach their goals! I’ll be more specific with the goals I’d like to reach for this new year, and I’m definitely looking forward to treating myself with the results.

  3. I think it is vey important to celebrate goals. If you lose weight but not the amount you set out to, still celebrate! This is proof you can do it!

  4. Simple, direct and effective!

  5. This article came at the perfect time Holly. After losing 54 pounds I found myself in a situation where I had to stop my plan for awhile. Now, I feel myself creeping back into old habits…that emotional eating roller-coaster is picking up speed. I was beating myself up; instead, I’m going to congratulate myself for losing the weight, keeping it off and remind myself to stick to the plan as closely as possible to maintain until…thank you, you inspired and lifted The Fiery Grandma right back UP!

  6. Great ways to start the year right! Thank you for sharing Holly! =)
